The progress flag represents the progress that has been made within the queer community to include more communities such as marginalized people of colour, trans people, and people living with HIV/AIDS and those who have been lost. The flag is a redesign of the philadelphia LGBTQ+ flag and the transgender flag. According to the creator, the arrow points to the right to show forward movement, while being along the left edge shows that progress still needs to be made.
The intersex-inclusive progress pride flag was created in 2021 based on this design to highlight the ongoing struggle faced by intersex people, including historical & continuing systemic forced cosmetic surgery performed on intersex babies.
